SpiceJet Delhi-Dubai Flight Lands In Karachi Following Technical Glitch

New Delhi: A SpiceJet aircraft heading to Dubai from Delhi made was diverted to Karachi airport after its indicator light malfunctioned on Tuesday.

As per reports, a replacement aircraft was sent to Karachi which will take passengers to Dubai.

"On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi - Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely at Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked,"an official statement from SpiceJet said.

"No emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing. There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments. A replacement aircraft is being sent to Karachi that will take the passengers to Dubai," the statement added.

The aircraft will be given clearance for flight only after the aircraft engineers issue a clearance report, the civil aviation authority (CAA) of Pakistan said.

"The plane landed in Karachi at 0803 am (local time), 53 minutes after being airborne. It has been on-ground for the past four hours. Passengers are being looked after. The plane has been parked in the designated area where engineers are assessing the problem," Pakistan CAA added.

The DGCA in its statement asserted that the crew noticed an unusual reduction in fuel quantity from the left tank of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft while it was mid-air.

It further said that the crew carried out the non-normal checklist as well after finding it.

"However, fuel quantity kept decreasing. Aircraft diverted to Karachi in coordination with ATC. During a post-flight inspection, no visual leak was observed from the left main tank," DGCA added.

Earlier on July 2, a SpiceJet plane going from Delhi to Jabalpur had an emergency landing following smoke seen rising in the cabin.

Reportedly, after the take-off of the flight, when the aircraft reached an altitude of 5000 feet, smoke was seen in the pilot's cabin. After this, the plane landed back at Delhi Airport.

In another incident, SpiceJet's Delhi-bound aircraft carrying over 185 passengers caught fire soon after taking off from Patna airport in June due to which the flight made an emergency landing.
