NEW DELHI: Persons with Disabilities have been exempt from the duty roster being drawn up for the staff required to attend essential services in ministries and departments as a measure to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the office memorandum on Friday for the protection and safety of PwDs.

In the memorandum, the DoPT directed all the ministries and departments to follow the instructions while drawing up the staff roster to attend essential services.

“Ministries and department may keep in mind that employees, who are persons with disabilities (PwD) are exempted,” said the memorandum.

The order will apply during the 21-day nationwide lockdown declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to break the chain of transmission of novel coronavirus. (IANS)
