New Delhi: The entire country is celebrating the 124th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, India's prominent freedom fighter and great revolutionary. The Government of India has decided to start the celebration of Republic Day on 23 January on the special occasion of the birthday of Subhas Chandra Bose.

Netaji's birthday is celebrated as Parakram Diwas. Subhas Chandra Bose was born in Cuttack, Orissa in an affluent Bengali family.

After passing the Intermediate examination in the first class in his childhood, Subhash Chandra Bose went to England to study the Indian Administrative Service. It was a great achievement for the Indians that they had secured the fourth position in this examination. However, he did not accept the slavery of the British.

Therefore, leaving the Indian Administrative Service midway, he came to India. Very few people would know that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose first called Mahatma Gandhi as the Father of the Nation.
