Chennai: In a startling incident, a 55-year-old man, who was presumed to be dead and was buried by his relatives on Sunday evening, returned alive to his house Monday evening.

The incident took place at Banagaladpur near Erode in Tamil Nadu.

The man has been identified as Moorthy and he happens to be a daily wage worker.

According to the TOI report, he had traveled to Tirupur a few days ago to harvest sugarcane.

A relative contacted Moorthy's son Karthi on Sunday to inform him about his father's demise and said that his father was found dead at a nearby bus stop.

A police officer said that Karthi immediately rushed to the spot and verified that it was indeed his father's body.

A case had been registered by the Sathyamangalam police and the dead body was handed over to the family. The daily wage worker's family then performed the final rites after which his body was buried on the night of April 3.

Moorthy returned back to his house the following day a result of which his family was completely taken aback. As per reports, his family initially could not swallow his return and found it difficult to believe what they had seen.

His son said that he was experiencing mixed emotions and added that he was stunned to hear the news of his father's demise and was equally astonished when his father walked into the house.

Karthi informed the police about his father's return after which the cops have resumed an inquiry to find out the actual identity of the deceased person.
