AMARAVATI: In order to make the process more efficient, the Tirumala Tiurpathi Devastanams (TTD), announced that the authorities has decided to set up facial recognition system for devotees from 1st March, 2023. 

This particular initiative will turn the darshan process a lot more smoother. Along with this, the pilgrims at Tirupati’s world famous Lord Venkateswar temple, which is located in Andhra Pradesh can now be identified through a facial recognition system. 

The authorities while issuing a notice regarding the news, implied that the new facial recognition software will be installed on an experimental basis. TTD, which is an individual trust that looks after the management of the temple, updated about the same in its official website.

The notice highlighted that the prime motive behind this new establishment is bring about transparency in darshan and lodging services. "TTD set to introduce Facial Recognition Technology on an experimental basis at Vaikuntham 2 and AMS systems from March 1 onwards. The idea is to enhance transparency in tokenless darshan and Accommodation allotment systems providing more effective services to the multitude of visiting pilgrims," the website mentions.

As per the latest reports, Tirumala has an accommodation facility of 7,000 out of which 1000 are reserved and rest are available for visitors and devotees. Since 1933, the TTD for the first time ever revealed its net worth in November last year, which is more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore.

Being the most largest temple across the world, TTDs net income is more than the market capitalisation of Wipro, ONGC and IOC. A temple personnel informed that, the trust is only becoming stronger as devotees continues to offer huge amount cash and gold. Along with that, fixed deposits in banks also offer handsome amount of revenue to the trust.
