Too late for home, minor girl fakes being 'gang-raped' to save herself from being scolded in Chhattisgarh

Kawardha (Chhattisgarh): A minor girl from Kawardha district, Chhattisgarh, faked a story of being 'gang-raped' to save herself from her parents' scoldings as she was late to come back home.

The 14-year-old girl left home in the evening on November 22, saying that she will go to meet a friend. When she did not return home late at night, her family started searching for her. They were about to go to the police station to file a complaint around11.30 PM. However, the girl return home and said that she was 'gang-raped' by four unidentified men when she was with her male friend.

The family informed the police about the incident and a case was registered. A total of seven teams were formed by the police to trace the suspects, but they could not find anyone for two-three days. It was only then that tHe police sensed that both the girl and her male friend were giving different accounts of the incident.

The SP of Kawardha, Shalabh Sinha said that when the police took the two to the spot of the incident to recreate the scene, both gave different versions. It was during the psychological quizzing that both the minors confessed that they were lying. They confessed to being in a relationship. They went out to meet, and when it was too late for the girl to return home, the minor boy suggested her to cook-up the story of being gang-raped.
