Trinamool Congress Appeared Evasive While Bengal Opposition Lauds Mirza’s Arrest

Kolkata: West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress on Thursday appeared evasive on the arrest of IPS officer S.M.H. Mirza in the Narada sting footage case, while the opposition parties welcomed the development and said more such things would follow till the entire truth comes out. “Whatever one has done, one has to bear the consequences. Who has arrested whom, how can I comment on that?” said Trinamool secretary general and state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. He said he kept away from such practices. “I don’t get involved in such things,” Partha Chatterjee said.

State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said the truth should come out and cases of corruption like Saradha ponzi scam and Narada should be taken to their logical climax. “Mirza was heard saying in the tape that he had to collect money for the party. We want the truth to come out. The cases of corruption like Saradha ponzi scam and the Narada sting footage which have come into the public domain should be carried to their logical climax. “The process should have started much earlier. Then people’s trust in the CBI would have increased. Better late than never. Corruption should stop,” said Dilip Ghosh. Another BJP leader and Union minister Babul Supriyo said it was a significant development. “Those who have committed illegal acts will have to suffer”. Congress Rajya Sabha member Pradip Bhattacharya said Mirza’s arrest was expected. (IANS)
