Mumbai- In a significant recent buildup, the Haj Committee of India (HCI) has declared that no Indian Muslim will be permitted to attend the annual Haj pilgrimage unless they have taken the two doses of the coronavirus vaccine. 

After taking into consideration the latest directives from the health ministry of Saudi Arabia and the Indian Consulate-General in Jeddah, the CEO of the Haj Committee of India Maqsood Ahmed Khan proceeded to make this announcement on Thursday. Read more

Khan also advised all the Muslim faithful of India who registered themselves for the Haj Pilgrimage of 2021 to administer the first dose of vaccine by their own accord so that they can be administered with the second dose of the vaccine before they depart for the holy pilgrimage.

However, he clarifies that there has not been any official statement made by the authorities of Saudi Arabia regarding the status of the 2021 Haj pilgrimage. "All the processes of Haj-2021 will be subject to the approval of Saudi authorities," the notification read. Read more

Khan further added by saying that in case there is a green light for the Indian Muslims to perform the Haj pilgrimage, the outgoing flights will start taking off from mid-June. 

Last year, the Haj pilgrimage was out of reach for the Muslims in India as India was facing a massive spike in coronavirus cases during late July. 

Now since India is affected by the second wave of coronavirus, which is considered not only more lethal than the previous coronavirus but also more stealthy, the Indian Muslim community can only wait and hope for the best. Read more

It is important to be mentioned that the Haj pilgrimage is considered to be the holiest and the most important pilgrimage in a Muslim's life. Muslim faithful from all over the world attends the Haj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia's holy city of Mecca, where lies the Kaaba- which means the "house of God."
