Two held in Siliguri's red-light area for trafficking minor from Assam

Guwahati: Two people were held in Siliguri's red-light area on the charges of trafficking a minor girl from Assam.

After a thorough investigation, two people, including a woman, were arrested.

As per police reports, Safiullah, one of the accused, is a resident of Assam's Goalpara, made false promises of love to the victim girl, and brought her to Siliguri.

Notably, he allegedly sold her in the red light area in exchange for a large amount of money.

It has been reported that the Assam police contacted Khalpara outpost police during the investigation and arrested the accused, Safiullah.

Later, the police succeeded in rescuing the minor girl and also got hold of another woman who has been involved in the trafficking.

The accused will be produced before the Siliguri court today and will be taken to Assam on transit remand.
