New Delhi: Two South Korean nationals, who were arrested in a multi-crore GST evasion case, escaped from the police custody in Tamil Nadu's (TN) Chengalpattu district.

According to police sources, the duo flew to Manipur and is believed to have crossed out India.

Both the prisoners made good their escape by climbing down from the 8th floor of a multi-storey building where they were lodged at Orgadam in Chengalpattu.

After launching the manhunt, it was revealed that the duo has reached Imphal and there are chances of crossing international border. However, the police are in contact with the South Korean authorities to ascertain whether they have reached their country or not.

Reportedly, both of them had got ground support in Tamil Nadu and probably they would have created fake documents to make good their escape.

Earlier, the both were lodged in a Truchi special cell and petitioned the Madras High Court for a private room under the supervision of police, how their request was denied.

Later, they moved to Supreme Court (SC) requesting the same and got permission.

The duo booked an 8th-floor apartment in a multi-story building in Orgadam and despite a police guard stationed outside their flat, they managed to escape.
