Aurangabad: In a very shocking event, an unidentified man stole the ATM card of a senior citizen in Aurangabad, Maharashtra on Saturday. The man, who stole the ATM card of the senior citizen was pretending to help this old man, however, he withdrew Rs 2.46 lakh from his bank account.

The old man, who is of 85 years of age visited the ATM centre to check the balance of his account. He visited the ATM centre on December 4.

On seeing the old man in the ATM centre, another man offered to him. However, little did the old man knew that the unidentified man is on a mission to cheat him and not help him. The unidentified took the ATM card from the old man. The poor old victim told this man, who was pretending to help him, about his ATM Pin. However, there was no account statement printed by the machine, so the old man took back his card and returned home.

But it was more shocking when the old man saw that Rs 2.46 lakh were withdrawn from his account in the last ten days. He was surprised as well as shocked as he did not withdraw any money. When the old man updated his passbook, he found out that his account only had a balance of Rs 290 only.

Only then, the old man realised that the unidentified man, who pretended to help him the other day, took away his card and gave him another card. The Vedant Nagar Police registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 420 (cheating) and further inquiry on the case is on.

Police have urged the people to be careful and asked to contact the police station if they wanted any help while using the ATM cards.
