NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya called for a review meeting about the precautionary measures across the country to prevent another outbreak it the pandemic in the country on Monday, December 21.

This meeting has been called in view of the increase in the number of infections in several countries across the globe. Hospitals are overwhelmed in the major cities of the country and so are the funeral establishments according to reports. But the official reports maintain that the country did not have any Covid deaths since November 23.

On Tuesday, December 20 the minister ordered all the states and UTs of the country to keep track of the possible new variants by proper genome sequencing from the samples extracted from Covid positive cases across the country. This will help in the early detection of possible problems and take proactive measures towards the prevention of the outbreak, mentioned a letter to from the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.

The Union Minister also pulled up Congress and the leader Rahul Gandhi for not taking adequate precautions in this direction. He also told the party to stop their ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra if they cannot follow health protocols.

India had worked hard to bring the number of covid infections under control across the country. It involved several steps to continue a multipronged control measure that includes testing, tracking, treating, vaccinating and adherence to issued protocols.

"With effective vaccination, we are safe but we should continue taking precautions like wearing masks and maintaining distance. RNA vaccines are more effective. Precautionary measures should remain there like in other developed countries."
