Unnao Rape case: Kuldeep Singh Sengar found guilty of killing father of the victim

NEW DELHI: Expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017 Unnao case for raping a minor has been found guilty of killing the minor’s father. He has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, announced a Delhi court.

Sengar had no intention of killing the rape victim’s father. He was beaten in a bad manner that led to his death, District judge Dharmesh Sharma said.

The victim’s father lost his life in police custody on 9 April 2018. There are charges against ten people including Sengar in the custodial death of the victim’s father. Out of the eleven accused, Sengar and six others have been found guilty.

In the Unnao Rape case, Sengar has been held guilty. He has already been sentenced for the "remainder of his natural biological life.”The family of the minor girl had blamed Sengar in raping the girl. The CBI investigated the case on the direction of the Supreme Court.

The victim’s father who had come to listen a court hearing, died later, in custody. He was allegedly beaten by the MLA’s brother and his henchmen. The accused have been threatening the family to withdraw the rape charges.

The doctor who treated the father of the Unnao rape victim had also died under mysterious circumstances. Prashant Upadhyaya had treated the Unnao rape victim’s father in April 2018 after he had been brutally thrashed in police custody. Upadhaya was later suspended during the CBI inquiry into the matter. He had later been reinstated and was presently posted in Fatehpur. According to his family members, Upadhaya complained of difficulty in breathing on Monday morning but refused to go to the hospital. Later when he was taken to the hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead. The family members said that he was a diabetic patient.
