UP: 25 Fatalities In A Day Due To Deadly Cold Wave In Kanpur
According to sources, heart attacks in this frigid weather are not just limited to the elderly. Even teenagers have experienced heart attacks in some instances.

NEW DELHI: In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, at least 25 persons passed away on Thursday as a result of heart attacks and brain attacks. According to sources, 17 of them passed away even before receiving any medical care. The abrupt rise in blood pressure brought on by the cold and blood clotting, according to doctors, is what causes heart attacks and brain attacks.
According to a professor at Lucknow's King George's Medical University (KGMU), "Heart attacks in this frigid weather are not just limited to the elderly. Even teenagers have experienced heart attacks in some instances. No matter your age, you should keep warm and spend as much time inside as you can," He said.
The Cardiology Institute's control room reports that 723 cardiac patients visited the emergency and OPD on Thursday. Of these, 41 patients were admitted who were in critical condition. Seven heart patients in the hospital's intensive care unit passed away from the cold. In addition to these, 15 people were transported to the emergency in a dead state.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of three degrees Celsius, the lowest in January in two years, making it colder than several hill stations. Several parts of north India suffered from extreme cold, and dense fog slowed down railroad traffic.
As icy winds from the snow-covered Himalayas barreled over the lowlands, including the Delhi-NCR, the majority of people stayed indoors and resorted to space heaters and mugs of hot beverages to stay warm.
According to sources, Parts of Delhi had temperatures as low as three degrees Celcius, which is the city's lowest temperature in the previous two years. The fog continued to be present, as Delhi Airport reported that Low Visibility Procedures were in effect. Fog has also been reported for the past few days.
All operations are normal at IGI Airport in New Delhi, although due to the fog on Thursday morning, Low Visibility Procedures are being observed. All flight operations are currently normal, according to the Delhi airport's passenger alert. For the most recent flight information, passengers are urged to get in touch with the relevant airline.
