Mumbai: A businessman based in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad has been arrested after allegedly molesting an actress on a Mumbai-bound flight. The actress filed a case of harassment against the businessman after which he was soon arrested and taken into police custody.

The actress, in her complaint, stated that she was groped when she had stood up to take her bag out from the overhead storage when the flight landed at Mumbai Airport.

The actress immediately raised her voice and filed a complaint with the assistance of the cabin crew.

The complaint was then forwarded to the Sahar Airport Police Station.

The police said, "As the complainant reacted with anger on the spot, the accused apologized and said that he mistook her for another male co-passenger."

"The accused has been arrested and presented before the court, which remanded him to police custody," the police added.

On October 14, the accused identified as Nitin (36) appeared before the Sahar police station.

The police have booked him for sexual harassment under relevant IPC provisions. The police have also written to a Bhoiwada court suggesting to record the statement of the actress before the magistrate under CrPC.
