Malda: Targeting the West Bengal Government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promised that if the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power it will stop cow smuggling and 'Love Jihad' in the state, which the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has failed to resolve for vote bank politics.
Addressing a rally in Malda district's Gazole, Adityanath said that the TMC has been engaged in 'appeasement politics' for the sake of garnering votes in the upcoming elections.
"The state which once led the nation has endangered the security of not only West Bengal but also of the country", he said while alleging that the present government is allowing illegal immigrants in the state, whereas it has a problem with refugees getting citizenship.
Speaking about the issue of cow smuggling the UP CM said, cow smuggling will be stopped within 24 hours if the BJP is voted to power in the state.
Asserting that West Bengal is facing a lawless situation, Adityanath alleged that incidents of 'Love Jihad' are happening in the state. He also said that UP has introduced laws that stop such incidents, but the West Bengal government has failed to stop 'Love Jihad' and cow smuggling.
Claiming the issue of raising 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan, Adityanath alleged that the people of Bengal are not allowed to raise the slogan and hence the present government will get a befitting reply for 'playing with the religious sentiments' of the people.
As a part of the BJPs election strategy, Adityanath is currently campaigning in West Bengal along with other top leaders of the party. The BJP which has never made in-roads to the state is giving a tough fight to the ruling TMC.
Election to the 294-member West Bengal Assembly will be held in eight phases -- on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26 and April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
Besides West Bengal, the EC has also declared poll dates for three other states -- Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam -- and one Union Territory -- Puducherry. The terms of legislative assemblies of all four states are coming to an end in May and June.
