NEW DELHI: In an unfortunate incident in Uttar Pradesh, an infant boy was snatched away by a team of monkeys and later thrown into a water tank.

The shocking incident took place on Sunday 9 December in the Bhagpat location of Uttar Pradesh.

The victim baby was later identified as Keshav Kumar, two and half months old.

According to reports, the baby was sleeping with his grandmother in the terrace room of their house with the door opened in Garhi Kalalanjari under Chandinagar police station.

Notably, the grandmother fell asleep with the child leaving the door open and taking advantage of the situation the monkeys entered accordingly and captured the baby. They grabbed the baby and went away from the place.

The grandmother of the Keshav started shouting about being unable to find the baby at the bed and the entire family started to look for the child.

After a long search, the family found the infant boy floating in a water tank that is used for livestock purposes. The baby was also taken to the hospital where the doctors declared his death before bringing to the hospital.

On speaking about the matter the baby's parents informed that the monkeys of the area had attempted to take away the baby earlier also but at that time they failed to do so as the relatives saw.

The SHO (Station House Officer) of Chandinagar, O.P Singh on this said that the monkey threat has become a major issue and they are informing the forest officials to take adequate measures to prevent such kinds of incidents.

Earlier this year group of monkeys brutally killed 250 dogs in the Beed area of Maharashtra after a puppy killed one o the infant monkey in a village named Majalgaon.
