Virat Kohli in Sticky Spot after Twitterati Slams Him

Guwahati: Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli might be missing from the India’s ongoing T20 series against West Indies following the Management decision to rest him before the all important tour against Australia but definitely not missing from the limelight. This time not for his skills on the field but for a controversy cantering round his video on social media that has gone viral

Indian captain Virat Kohli has found himself in a bit of a sticky spot on Twitter after a video of him saying that Indians who don’t support the national cricket team should not live in the country. In a video which is going viral on social media, Kohli can be seen criticizing a fan who said that he likes English and Australian batsmen more than the current Indian batsmen. Reacting to this, Kohli who is known to wear his heart up his sleeve said that he should not live in India if he likes foreign players more than Indian cricketers.

In a section where he reacted to mean tweets sent to him, Kohli is seen replying to someone who said that they prefer English and Australian batsmen over him. Kohli replied saying that they should not live in India and asked them to get their priorities straight for “loving other countries”.

“He (Virat) is an overrated batsman. Nothing seems special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indians,” the fan wrote which left Kohli furious as he didn't hold back in letting his frustration known. Calling out the fan Kohli said that he didn't mind the criticism about him but if someone cannot like Indian players while living in India then they should not be living in the country.

“I don’t think you should live in India. Go and live somewhere else. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don’t mind you not liking me. I don’t think you should live in our country and like other’s thing. Get your priorities sorted,” Kohli said in his response.

However, this response by Virat Kohli didn't go down well with a lot of fans on Twitter who slammed the India skipper for making such comments.

Kohli has been in great form with the bat off late. He scored three back to back tons in the ODI series the Windies, besides getting to 10000 ODI runs and breaking a plethora of other records as well. Away from the game for a bit, Kohli will be back to lead India in their upcoming tour to Australia.
