BHOPAL: A 42-year-old volunteer from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh allegedly died after 10 days after taking a dose of Covaxin in the clinical trial of the Covid vaccine.

According to reports, the death of the 42-year-old has now sparked controversy around the approval of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin by the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, a government official suspects poisoning as the reason behind the death, however, the exact cause of the death will be known after the viscera test.

Vice-Chancellor, People's Medical College and Hospital, Dr Rajesh Kapur said that the deceased identified as Deepak Marawi had participated in the Covaxin trial held on December 12, 2020.

"All protocols were followed and Marawi's consent was taken before allowing him to participate in the trial and monitored his health for 7 to 8 days," the doctor claimed.

Interestingly, a Bhopal-based social activist, claimed neither Marawi's consent was taken for participation in the clinical trial nor he was given any proof of his participation in the exercise.
