New Delhi: These days filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is in the headline for two things -- firstly for his film, The Kashmir Files, and secondly for the security cover which has been provided to him.

According to reports, the Centre has decided to provide 'Y' category security cover of CRPF to Vivek Agnihotri who will protect him from getting harmed during his stay and travel all over India.

Now, many of us will think that what is 'Y' category security covers and how many types of security cover exist in India. To get a detailed answer to the same, let's dive into details and have a look at different security covers in India.  

In India, security covers are provided to recognized persons whose lives are at stake due to their work or popularity. In a bid to protect them from such anti-social elements, different types of security are provided depending on the information provided by the intelligence department.

The security category is divided into 5 categories and given to a person after assessing the threats. The security categories include SPG, Z+, Z, Y, X, etc.

Such securities are offered to VVIP-VIPs, sports persons, celebrities, or any high profile or political personality. While Z+ is the highest protection level, additional SPG coverage is provided to the most important persons in the country together with current and former prime ministers. The Y category has a permanent guard for 11 personnel and consists of two PSOs.

SPG Level Security

--This kind of security level is given to the Prime Minister of India and former Prime Ministers of India and members of their erstwhile families anywhere in the world as its provide as it provides maximum security.

-- The need for the same was felt after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was formed by an Act of Parliament of India in 1988.

-- The SPG Group is totally under the supervision of the Central Government.

-- The head of the unit, known as the Director is an IPS officer who is responsible for command and total supervision of the unit of the SPG.

--More than 4000 persons are always reserved in their rank

--As it provides maximum security cover, it is also the most expensive security force compared to others.

--As of now, only 6 people have the privilege of providing this type of protection.

Z+ Level Security

-- It is higher security coverage just below the SPG.

-- This security coverage provides a protective cover of 55 member workforce, which includes 10+ NSG commandos + police personnel.

-- Each commando is professionally trained in martial arts and unarmed combating.

-- Dignitaries like BJP President Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Finance Minister, and a few others have been provided with this security cover.

Z Level Security

-- This is the third-highest level of security in India and the protection cover consists of a 22-member workforce, consisting of 4-5 NSG commandos + police personnel.

-- Z level security is provided to the people of Delhi Police or Indo-Tibetan Police (ITBP) or CRPF along with an escort car.

-- The people who are given Z security are Baba Ramdev and actor Aamir Khan.

Y Level Security

-- It is considered to be the fourth level of security level in India.

-- Here the protection cover consists of an 11-member workforce, consisting of 1-2 NSG commandos + police personnel.

-- It also provides two Personal Security Officers (PSOs).

-- There are many people who get this category of security in India.

X Level Security

-- This is the fifth critical security level in India.

-- X level protection cover consists of 2 security personnel consisting of armed police personnel

-- It is provided by 1 Personal Security Officer to different people of the country.
