Woman Living On India-China Border Claims To Be Goddess Parvati, Wants To Marry Shiva

Pithoragarh: A woman hailing from Lucknow, who has been staying illegally in a restricted area of Nabhidhang, close to the Indo-China border, has refused to leave it and claimed that she is Parvati and will wed Lord Shiva who lives on Mount Kailash.

Pithoragarh SP Lokendra Singh informed that a police team was sent to remove the woman, identified as Harminder Kaur from the restricted area. However, they failed to bring her back after she threatened to commit suicide if they insisted on taking her away.

The Pithoragarh SP also added that it has been decided that a bigger team will be sent to bring her down by hook or by crook to Dharchula.

"The woman, a resident of Aliganj locality in Uttar Pradesh, had gone to Gunji with her mother on 15 days' permission issued by SDM Dharchula, but refused to leave the restricted area even after her permission expired on May 25," the SP added.

''A three-member police team comprising two sub-inspectors was sent from Dharchula to bring back the woman from the restricted area but to their disappointment, their attempt went in vain as they had to return empty-handed,'' he said.

"We have now planned to send a bigger 12-member police team, including medical personnel, on Friday to bring back the woman," he further informed.
