Heartfulness is a "system of practical training emerged in the 1890s through the research of a spiritual prodigy named Shri Ram Chandra, known as Lalaji by his family and friends. While he was still a boy, Lalaji's research led him to rediscover the ancient art of Transmission of spiritual energy, and he integrated Transmission or pranahuti into the practices that he offered. One of the people he trained, coincidentally also named Ram Chandra, became his successor and representative in the lineage of Heartfulness Guides. Babuji, as he was fondly known, further refined and simplified the method his guide had given, retaining the essence, the spiritual essentials. He gave us the core practices known as Sahaj Marg Raja Yoga, which form the basis of the Heartfulness practices we know today. Babuji founded the Shri Ram Chandra Mission in 1945, a non-profit organization he named after his Guide, Lalaji," the website states.
