Guwahati: A shocking incident of a Kolkata youth has come to notice that highlights the extreme level of psychological degradation of the new generation. In this latest incident of crime, a 27-year-old youth is seen to have committed the major crime of assaulting his family members and admitting it on social media by going live on Facebook. The incident has happened in Hooghly district of West Bengal who allegedly stabbed his family members among whom his 80-year-old grandmother succumbed to her injuries.

The accused is identified as Indranil Roy, who according to the West Bengal Police, has a history of drug addiction. A police officer says, "Indranil Roy, a resident of Keota Shibtala, attacked his family members on Sunday night. His grandmother Arati Roy, 80, succumbed to the injuries. We heard he did a Facebook live after the incident but we are yet to verify it."

Police further added that although the boy had attacked his parents as well, but fortunately, they received minor injuries and are doing well now.

As the boy has a history of drug addiction, the police suspect that either he has committed the crime of attacking his family driven by drug overdose or he is psychologically disturbed. A normal person does not take up an extreme step of attacking his family members and end up killing them without any reason.

The police officer also says, "The accused has been arrested and the matter is under investigation. The boy has a history of addiction and had been behaving violently for some days."

The incident has caught the attention of the mindful citizens with mixed reactions being made. A sort of concern has also been expressed by a city-based psychologist, according to whom, a proper probe into the state of the youth, whether he was on drug or are suffering from psychological disorder should be made.
