Zomato user who cancelled order over 'non-Hindu' deliveryman issue, gets police notice

The issue of a man from Madhya Pradesh cancelling a food delivery order made via Zomato has left the country in awe as this man has raised the eyebrows by cancelling an order just because the delivery man is non-Hindu.

On Tuesday night, the man from Madhya Pradesh had tweeted about cancelling his order placed on Zomato as the designated rider was a "non-Hindu".

Notably, the MP man Amit Shukla had made a tweet on Tuesday night addressing Zomato that he has just cancelled an order. The tweet of the man reads thus,

"Just cancelled an order on Zomato. They allocated a non-Hindu rider for my food. They said they can't change rider and can't refund on cancellation."

The racist tweet made by the man sparked row immediately after it went on the social media with acute criticisms showering from users. However, the reply made by Zomato became more trending and attracted great attention of the people of the nation.

Zomato, in its response, had tweeted, "Food doesn't have a religion. It is a religion."

This was further followed by Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal’s tweet wherein she stated that she is proud of the idea of India and also for the diversity of its esteemed customers and partners. She also added that she and her company are not sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of their values.

However, the issue of cancelling the order over religion has not been digested well by the police. Amit gets a police notice wherein he is warned of being put behind the bars if there is any racist tweet by him in the next six months.

As stated by Jabalpur district police superintendent Amit Singh, "If in the next six months, he again makes any such tweets or commits any such act which is against basic tenets of the constitution or worthy of disturbing public peace or communal amity, then he will automatically be sent to jail."
