1 dead, 2 hurt in Shillong road mishap

SHILLONG, Sept 12: A day after five people died and 10 others were injured in a road accident in Tura, another tragic road accident happened in the capital city on Tuesday that claimed one woman and injured two others.

One lady street vendor died on the spot and two pedestrians were injured, including a three-year-old boy. This incident happened around 10:40 am near Military Hospital in Rilbong when one Maruti Eeco (ML05 D 6195) went off the road and hit two pedestrians and killed the street vendor on the spot.

The dead has been identified as Pinky Gegum (24), while injured are Vikash th (31) and Intiyas Ali (3), both from Mawbah, Barapathar. Vikash sustained injuries on the ears and fractured the right leg, while Intiyas Ali sustained fracture of his left leg and is also suspected of having received blunt injury in his abdomen.

The two injured were first shifted to Military Hospital and later transported to NEIGRIHMS by a 108 ambulance.

Police have seized the vehicle and further investigation is on.
