10-day NCC camp to groom cadets concludes

Dibrugarh, July 14: The 10-day NCC camp organized by 10 Assam Bn NCC under the aegis of NCC Group HQ Dibrugarh at Dibrugarh University (DU), concluded successfully on Thursday. The closing address on the concluding day event was delivered by the Camp Commandant, Col AS Ghumman.

More than 600 NCC cadets of senior and junior division from the districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Charaideo actively participated in the various activities which were held as part of the camp.

The Combined Annual Training Camp plays a significant role in grooming and shaping of the cadets by making them confident, self sufficient and responsible. During the camp, the cadets took part in drill, firing with .22 rifle, map reading, field craft and battle craft. The cadets also actively competed for the selection trials for various competitions, Pre Thal Sainik Camp and Pre Republic Day Camps.

The NCC cadets are the youth power of the country and during the camp they took on various social service activities and even took out awareness rallies on the issues of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, anti-tobacco, anti-drugs and cancer awareness. The senior cadets also contributed by doting blood to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) blood bank during the blood dotion drive at the camp.

During the 10-day camp, yoga formed an essential part at the daily routine for which a seven-day yoga capsule was conducted and the cadets benefitted from it. As part of their persolity development, various classes were taken by the Camp Commandant and in order to bring out the hidden and latent talent in them various cultural competitions were conducted and even a cultural programme was organized on the penultimate day of the camp which was attended by Deans of various schools of Dibrugarh University (DU). Later on, prizes were given away to the winners of the competitions and the Best Cadets.

Attending the concluding day function, Prof. Prodeep Kumar Baruah, the officiating vice chancellor of DU, congratulated the cadets on putting up an excellent show as well as encouraged them to use this NCC training to excel in life in future, a press release stated.
