10 killed as boat capsizes in Indonesia

Jakarta, Aug 21: At least 10 persons were killed, two injured and five went missing when a boat capsized in western Indonesia on Sunday, vy spokesman said. The boat carried 17 persons and overturned after it departed from a port in Tanjung Ping of Riau province, Xinhua quoted vy spokesman Admiral Edi Sucipto as saying. Bad weather was blamed for the disaster, he said. vy command in western Indonesia undertook the evacuation just after the incident, Sucipto said. Two passengers are in critical condition and shifted to the vy hospital in the province, Sucipto added. Search and rescue operation for the missing passengers is underway, he said.  (IANS)
