10 killed in road mishap in Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG, Jan 27: A night super bus (AS-24C-2788) heading towards Guwahati from Hailakandi in Assam fell into a gorge at Tongseng village of East Jaintia Hills (EJH) killing ten people. Twenty-one passengers sustained injuries. The incident happened at around 1.30am. The passengers who lost their lives were identified as Sanjier Boisp (32) of Kalma in Cachar, Md. Jalaluddin Mazumdar (22) of Bashdakar Matijuri village in Hailakandi, Kopi Das (26) of Hajughat in Assam, Md. Abdul Ash Barbuiya (14) of Aljapur in Hailakandi district of Assam, Dandiram Roy (38) of Adlaguri in Bongaigoan, Assam, Ajun Biswas (36) of Dolohat in Lakhimpur district of Assam, Paban Sinha (23) an Assam Regiment personnel and Suchendra mesudra (56) of Karimganj, Assam. The injured were immediately shifted to CHC Khliehriat for treatment however they were later referred to Civil Hospital Jowai and Shillong. Meanwhile, the district Police is taking necessary action and matter is under enquiry.
