10-year old allegedly raped by neighbour in Chirang

Bongaigaon: Sensation prevailed in Chirang following the alleged rape of a minor in Dhaladhonda area under Panbari PS of Bijni subdivision in Chirang district. As per sources, a person named Pradip Mondol (45), a resident of No 1 Chikajhora village of Bijni, had allegedly raped a 10-year old child while the child was alone at home on Sunday. The victim child is a student of Class 4 of No 1 Chikajhora LP School. After raping her, Mondol allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about it. The victim’s family lodged an FIR in this regard in Panbari PS. Police registered the case (case no. 22/2019U/S-376 IPC POCSO), picked up the culprit and started investigation. The local people have demanded severe punishment for the accused.
