104th birth anniversary of Joy Bhadra Hagjer

Haflong, April 3: The 104th birth anniversary of Joy Bhadra Hagjer, the illustrious son of Dima Hasao, was celebrated throughout the district of Dima Hasao in a befitting manner on Monday. At Haflong, the NC Hills Autonomous Council organized the 104th birth anniversary celebration of Joy Bhadra Hagjer at the Cultural Institute Hall with great enthusiasm.  In this connection, a well-attended meeting was held with Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council, as the chief guest while B B Hagjer, MLA, Ranu Langthasa, chairperson of NCHAC, Amitabh Rajkhowa, Deputy Commissioner, and other dignitaries were guests of honour and special invitees.

All the speakers dwelt at length on the life, principles and contribution of Hagjer towards the country as well as the land where he belonged to and appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to be inspired by his thoughts and to keep him alive in everyone’s daily life. This was followed by cultural performances by the different groups of people living in this district. Earlier, floral tribute was offered by chief guest Gorlosa in front of the beautifully decorated portrait of Hagjer.
