GAURISAGAR, Jan 6: The 10th biennial conference of Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) will be held at Bishwath Chariali in the premises of Chariali Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School from January 8 to January 10.
On the first day, Monuj Singh, president, APCU will hoist the APCU flag while Dr.Kukheswar Borah, president, reception committee will hoist the reception committee flag. Later the tiol organizations flag will be hoisted. Mousumjyoti Baishya and Abdul Khalek, working president and secretary general of APCU respectively will performed smriti tarpan of martyr jourlists. Thereafter the smriti tarpan of local martyr jourlists will be done by Satyendra Hazarika, Principal, Chariali Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School.
Noted social worker Apurba Kumar Das will iugurate the delegates camp. Pallav Gopal Jha, SDO, Biswath, will iugurate the jourlist workshop while Achyut Kumar Patowary, Maging Editor, Niyamiya Barta, Gautom Sarmah, senior jourlist, Amar Asom, Sayamoni Bhuyan, Bureau Chief, News Live and Tridip Hazarika, Senior Mager (Public Relation), OIL, Duliajan will be the resource persons of the workshop. Nurjamal Sarkar, former minister, will open the door of the exhibition and book fair. At night play will be staged which will be iugurated by Pallab Lochan Das, MLA, Bihali. Estantik, a prominent drama troop of Chatia will perform the play Bhalpuwar Dikchou Bat of noted dramatist Dipak Kumar Gogoi.
On the second day the programme will include field visit by delegates, cultural competition, cultural procession an open session. The open session will be held under the chairmanship of Monuj Singh, president, APCU. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will grace the meeting as chief guest while Union Minister Sarbanonda Sonowal, Assam Forest Minister Etuwa Munda, Ram Prasad Sarmah, MP, Tezpur, HPC will attend the open session as distinguished guests. Subhit Kumar Chetti, adviser, APCU will deliver his speech as an invited speaker. In the open session, Ranjit Gogoi, Director, Information and Public Relations will release the souvenir published on the occasion. At night Mabendra Deb Rai, Superintendent of Police, Biswath will iugurate the cultural night.
