11 HTF rebels held in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG, June 29: In a major success achieved by the Indian Army in conjunction with Assam Police a new militant outfit—Helem Tiger Force—was busted in a sustained operation over last few days. Eleven cadres of the outfit were apprehended along with a large quantity of arms, ammunition & explosives. The kingpin of this new outfit is still at large and efforts are on to reach out to him, said an Indian Army official. Based on inputs, Army along with Assam Police carried out operation in Dima Hasao & West Karbi Anglong districts bordering Meghalaya. The unearthing and apprehension of a majority of cadres of this outfit which has links with KPLT and UPLA; has been a major setback to the nexus between the outfits which have been involved in kidpping, extortion and ‘tax-collection’, added the official.
