SHILLONG, April 27: The 115th Anniversary of Swami Vivekanda’s
visit to Shillong and Foundation Day of Ramakrish Mission Vivekanda
Cultural Centre, Shillong was celebrated today at Ramakrish Mission
Vivekanda Cultural Centre, Shillong.
Meghalaya Governor V Shanmugathan graced the occasion as the chief
guest while principal secretary RM Mishra was the guest of honour. The
programme was attended by Revered Swami Suvirandaji Maharaj, assistant
general secretary, Ramakrish Math & Ramakrish Mission, Belur
Math, Howrah, West Bengal and others including students.
The Governor while recalling the selfless service of Swami
Vivekanda, his sacrifices and dedication toward the society urged upon
the gathering especially the student community to practice selflessness
in their day to day life. The Governor also emphasized on the need to
practice and follow the path of self righteousness. Earlier, the
Governor lighted the ceremonial lamp to mark the iuguration of the
celebration and also handed over citation and cash award of the Best
Teacher of Ramakrish Mission Vivekanda Cultural Centre, Shillong to
Prakash Joshi followed by cultural programme performed by the students.
