119th Birth anniversary of Netaji to be celebrated in city

SHILLONG, Jan 21: The city will celebrate the 119th Birth anniversary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on January 23 at State Central Library Complex here. A panel discussion on the topic ‘Relevance of Netaji’s philosophy and principles as freedom fighter, governce strategist and his unflinching love for the motherland’ at Oakland Community Hall will be held  3.30 pm on the occasion.

The celebration is being organized by the Greater Shillong Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Birth Celebration Committee (GSNSCBBCC).  The Programme includes flag hoisting, floral tributes, Assam Rifles band display and patriotic songs. “The celebration will start from different localities of the city in which people will take out processions and converge at the State Central Library Complex by 8.45AM,” GSNSCBBCC president told newsmen here on Thursday. He said 65 files have been declassified by the government of West Bengal now they are expecting the central government to soon declassify the files of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose which is lying at the archives of the government of India.
