MARGHERITA, June 26: Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Asom has declared Assam bandh on Tuesday (June 28) to protest against the Central Government’s decision to auction at least 12 oil fields of Assam to private investors. Chao Mintu Deodhai Phukan, general secretary of Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Asom said that the Modi government would hand over all assets of Assam to private companies, which would be a big curse for the people of Assam.  “During the Assam Agitation, 855 martyrs sacrificed their lives for the sake of Assam but the Central Government was planning to hand over Assam’s assets to outsiders and the newly-elected Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, who is regarded as ‘Jatiyo yak’, has become a mute spectator. But we will not allow the  BJP government at the Centre to do this kind of injustice and we will continue our agitation till the government takes back its decision,” said Chao Mintu Deodhai Phukan. Meanwhile, All Assam Muttock Yuba Chatra Sanmihloni, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Sanmihloni and All Assam Singpho Students’ Union have also supported the 12-hours Assam bandh on June 28.
