12-hour bandh cripples normal life in Tinsukia

 TINSUKIA, Sept 12: Normal life across Tinsukia district was crippled today because of the 12-hour Assam general strike called by Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) in protest against the Central Governments notification on minority refugees. All shops, business establishments, fincial institutes, Central Government and State  Government offices remained closed. Some private vehicles were seen plying on the roads during the bandh hours. However, production works of Oil, Coal and tea sectors were not affected due to the bandh. No untoward incident was reported from any quarter of the district till filing of this report. Bandh supporters staged protest by burning tyres on NH 37.
