12 Tinsukia students to join children science congress

DOOMDOOMA, Oct 17: Altogether 12 students who were selected for their projects in recently concluded 23rd Tinsukia District tiol Children Science Congress (TDNCSC) held at Borgaon ME and High School at, Barekuri near Makum will represent Tinsukia District in the State Level meet at Titabar.

It will be hosted by voday Vidyalaya, Titabar from October 29 to November 1. The participants who have been selected are Latu Gogoi (Kailashpur ME School), Diki Sonowal (Dangari HS School), Urmila Chetia (Borgaon High School), Nikhil Ranjan Das (Mechaki ME School), Ankita Saikia (Phillobari ME School), Bani Das (Baruahola ME School), Tarujyoti Borgohain (Anthem ME School, Margherita), Bagmita Das (Budding Buds Senior Secondary School, Tinsukia), Priyanka Baidya (Makum Railway Girls’ High School), Biswajit Gogoi (Shantipur ME School, Sadiya), Premika Minj (Satbhani Jatiya Vidyalaya, Talap) and Tinkumoni Borah (Kailashpur ME School).

The district level NCSC got underway with hoisting of the flag which was followed by oath taking ceremony of the participants administered by Bravy Dutta of Radhakrishn Academy, Kakapathar and Himanghsu Saikia of Phillobari M.E.School.  

DR Bhuban Gogoi, Principal of Tinsukia College iugurated the meet which was presided over by TDNCSC president, Jiten Sharma.

After presentation of the annual report of the TDNCSC by its Co-Orditor, Diganta Kumar Bhajani, several speakers including Dr Manoj Patwari, general secretary, Bharat Ja Bijn Yatra, Gajendra th Moran, general secretary, Tinsukia District High School Teachers Association (TDHSTA), Lohit Saikia, general secretary, All Assam ME Teachers Association (AAMETA), Tinsukia District, addressed the gathering.

The annual magazine of TDNCSC “Bijn Bithika” was released by Dr Prakash Jyoti Barthakur, Principal, Doomdooma College while the Souvenir published on the occasion was released by Sarat Chiringphukan, Ex-Secretary, Tinisukia Zila Sahitya Sabha.

The focal theme of this year’s NCSC is “Understanding Weather and Climate.”  The participants presented their projects on this and six other sub-themes under the supervision of Dr Mee Devi Baruah and Manoj Dutta, Vice- President and Co-Orditor respectively of TDNCSC Academic committee.

The highlights of second day’s programme were tree plantation and Meet the Scientist. The SA-fame innovator Uddhab Bharali, who attended the “Meet the Scientist” programme, interacted with the students and general public.

The valedictory function held in the afternoon, was attended by the curator of Jorhat Planetorium, Dr Prabjyoti Chetia, the state secretary, NCSC, Dhirendra Kumar Gogoi, president, TDHSTA, Kushal Saikia, president, AAMETA, Tinsukia District, Kalyan Bora among others.

Besides distribution of prizes to the winners of the District Level Science Model Competition held on the occasion, the guide teachers of the twelve selected projects were also felicitated in the meeting.
