120th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Bose celebrated

SHILLONG, Jan 23: The 120th birth anniversary of India’s freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was on Monday celebrated at U Soso Tham auditorium. The function was organised by the Greater Shillong Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee.

A candle light vigil was also organized at the site where the statue of Netaji had been erected. During the function there was a growing demand to declare January 23, as a tiol holiday.

AL Hek Minister in the Congress led government, while speaking at the occasion felt that the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose should be declared as a tiol holiday.

“I feel such suggestions should be immediately written and submitted to the Prime Minister of the country so that necessary cation could be taken in this regard,” he said. Expressing similar views, BJP MDC Neil Antonio War asserted that the BPJ state unit will soon write to the central government to declare January 23, as a tiol holiday.

Meanwhile, ba Bhattacharjee committee president informed that a sigture campaign will be organized by end of March in connection to declaring January 23 as a tiol holiday.
