127 Grant letters distributed among PMAY beneficiaries

Silchar, Nov 29: 127 grant letters were distributed among Pradhan Mantri Awas Yoja (PMAY) beneficiaries at old SBI building, Lakhipur recently. The letter was ceremoniously distributed among 27 persons at a small function by Rimi Paul, chairperson, Mril Kanti Das, vice chairperson, of Lakhipur Municipal Board along with ward commissioners. Beneficiaries of all the 10 wards except Ward No 8 received the grant letters. Distribution of the grant letters will soon be carried out among the beneficiaries of PMAY residing in Ward No 8. A target of 1000 beneficiaries has been set and more are likely to increase in the due course of time.

 Each of the beneficiaries will receive an amount of Rs.2 lakh. They have been instructed to build the houses in five models amounting to Rs.2.99 lakh, Rs.2.81 lakh, Rs.2.66 lakh, Rs. 2.50 lakh and Rs.2.35 lakh. If they exceed the sanctioned amount, they will have to bear the expenses from their own pocket. The government will not bore the extra money. Out of Rs.2 lakh, 1.5 lakh will be given by the Central Government and the rest by the State. It has been assured by Mril Kanti Das that by 2022, there will be not a single kachcha house in the entire Lakhipur sub division.

 Rimi Paul advised the beneficiaries to build the houses nicely and within 3 months, as it is mandatory. The meeting which was presided over by Ranjan Routh, a former employee of LMB, was also attended by ward commissioners Pulak Jyoti Das, Chiranjit Roy, Banithombi Sharma, Champa Das and Alpa Bibi.
