14-year-old boy and two other militants killed in encounter with security forces in J&K

Guwahati: A terrorist-security encounter that took place at Mujgund on the outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday left three members of Lashkar-e-Taiba dead which also included a 14-year-old boy. The encounter lasted for a record time of 18 hours and also wounded four security men and three civilians.

As identified by the security forces later, the LeT members were minor Mudasir Rashid Parray, Saqib Mushtaq and Ali Bhai who is a Pakistani national. On the other hand, the injured armed forces which included an Army jawan, two cops and a CRPF man, were admitted to a hospital.

As stated by a senior police official, in order to wipe off terrorism from the border state and the make sure that the nation gets free from the terror of the militants, the Special Operations Group (SOG), CRPF, and Army had launched a joint operation on Saturday. As police attacked a house used by the terrorists for hiding, the terrorists too opened fire in reply and subsequently, resulted into a fierce gunfight.

The three terrorists were killed in the encounter of Saturday only but the army could not continue the encounter due to darkness. The operation was resumed on Sunday morning when the army could see the circumstance inside the house.

The minor boy in the group of militants was a new entry who had escaped from his home in Bandirpora’s Hajin town just on August 29. However, Mudasir was not the only boy who went missing as another boy from his school; his senior Bilal Ahmad too had gone missing together.

As reported by Mudasir’s mother, her son had told them that he is going to school but he did not return home that day. They had also filed a missing report at the nearest police station, but things got clear when a picture of Mudasir holding an AK-47 went viral on social media. ADGP law & order Munir Khan said, “On Saturday, forces tried to persuade the terrorists to come out and surrender but instead they fired on the forces, triggering an encounter.”

The very news of encounter and death of the minor created quite a roar in Hajin village and furious villagers pelted stones on the security forces.
