‘1,426 AAU students will be awarded degrees’ says Dr KM Bujarbaruah, the Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University

JORHAT: As many as 1,426 students are eligible for conferment of various degrees under different faculties, out of which 951 (66.69 per cent) students will receive the degree in person. Altogether 691 students will receive Bachelor’s degree, 571 will receive Master’s degree and 165 students will receive Ph.D degree, said Dr KM Bujarbaruah, the Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, while addressing media persons at the conference hall of the Community Sciences College, Jorhat campus on Thursday.

The Vice-Chancellor said that as many as 32 students would receive gold medals and cash prizes for their outstanding academic performances. The 229th meeting of the Academic Council, the highest academic body of the university, held on December 12, 2018 decided to organize the 21st convocation sometime in early 2019 depending upon the convenience of the Governor of Assam and the Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University. Accordingly, as communicated by the Governor Secretariat vide letter no. GSAG/INV/ACCP/2007, the date of convocation has been fixed on May 4 at the AAU headquarter.
