148th birth anniversary of Bhubaneshwar Sadhuthakur observed

Silchar, Oct 21: 148th birth anniversary of Sri Sri Bhubaneshwar Sadhuthakur, the great saint of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Community, was observed with solemnity in the city.  
Various programmes, small functions and rallies formed the part of this grand celebration. It was solemnized mainly at the premises of Sri Sri Bhubaneshwar Sadhuthakur, Sevashram of Silchar. 
The great saint was born on October 26, 1871, in a remote village of Cachar district called Baropua, Assam. He was born to a Xatriya Manipuri family. Sri Satan Pandit, his father, was a Sanskrit teacher and mother Srimati Malati Devi, a homemaker.
Celebrations began on October 15 that included free health camp, drawing competition, discussion sessions regarding the life of Sri Sri Bhubaneshwar Sadhuthakur, rallies across the town, aartis, and distribution of prasad, among others. 
Talking to The Sentinel, Pradhyut Singha said, “We are observing Sri Sri Sadhu Thakur’s birth anniversary on a grand scale. Today, the occasion was graced by the presence of Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul. We are indeed delighted.”
