14th biennial conference of AALA

Bongaigaon, Feb 14: The 14th Biennial conference of All Assam Lawyers’ Association (AALA) started in Bongaigaon on Friday with a three-day long programme.

Dhrubajyoti Mukharjee, general secretary of the reception committee, said that the programme started with flag hoisting which had been followed by iugural session and lighting of lamp. “The conference was formally iugurated by K Sreedhar Rao, Chief Justice, (Acting) of Gauhati High Court. Today, our programme started with a semir on the topic ‘Law of witch hunting : Its necessity and implementation with special reference to Assam’. In the semir the chairperson was Justice B K Sarma, Judge of Gauhati High Court, resource person was Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Gauhati High Cour , GN Sahewalla, Chairman of Bar Council of Assam, galand, Mizoram and Aruchal Pradesh and ni Gopal Mahanta, Professor, Department of

 Political Science of Gauhati University. Today’s programme ended with a cultural session. Tomorrow our main attraction will be open session where Mukunda Ram Sarma, Former Judge of Supreme Court of India will be chief guest and Sarbanda Sonowal, Union Minister of State, Youth Affairs and Sports, will deliver the keynote address,” he said.
