15 cheating cases a day in Assam!

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, May 8: It is presumably the neoliberal state that collaterally turned the people’s mind into a blind consumerist across the world. The worldwide commoditization of human luxuries has ignited the tendency to acquire various means to live a comfortable life. Consequently, a crazy and desperate dream to fulfill one’s dream is resulting in constant increasing of individuals resorting to cheating and fraudulence act across the state, more particularly in Guwahati city. The hypothesis is persuasively supported by the statistical data released by the Assam Police on registered cheating cases across the State.

According to the data, the situation is so worrisome that the numbers of registered cheating cases are doubling in every five years across the state. The numbers of cheating cases in 2006 were recorded at 741. After five years, in 2010 the number went up to 1,326. In 2014, the rapidity reached at 2,916. As on 2017, terribly, the figure rose up to 5,449. Hence, at least 15 cheating cases are registered per day across the state in 2017 alone.

According to the data, the year wise numbers of cheating cases registered over the last twelve years across the state are, 741 (2006), 739 (2007), 886 (2008), 1098 (2009), 1326 (2010), 1453 (2011), 1693 (2012), 2607 (2013), 2916 (2014), 3781 (2015), 4195 (2016) and  5449 (2017).

Either in the formal or informal job sectors, the graphs of miscreants resorting to unfair means to get an advantage is so towering that the phenomenon may victimize an individual at any point of time.
