15 children rescued from child traffickers

Tezpur, April 26: The people of Dhekiajuli town on Monday night maged to rescue as many as 15 children belonging to Ghoramari village in Singri area under Dhekiajuli PS in Sonitpur district from the clutches of a child trafficking gang. According to sources, the 15 children were taken to Rangia train station in a Bolero car bearing no-AS-12-C-4692 in order to send them to Delhi. However, the movement of the vehicle in Dhekiajuli town carrying the children under age group 10-16 years created an air of doubt among the people of the town. Meanwhile, people who were following them for a good while later intercepted the vehicle and asked the two persons in vehicle about the motive of taking the children with them. When they could not give proper answers, the people informed the Child Development Project officer (CDPO) of Barchala CDPO office, Rupa Bora. On receiving the information, the CDPO and her co-worker Pabitra Sharma rushed to the spot and along with the Bolero, captured the two child traffickers Pitar Orang and Rebanti Kheria and handed them over to the Dhekiajuli Police station. After interrogation, police later arrested the two accused persons and on Tuesday morning the children were sent back to their homes.
