15 Jihadis killed in IS attacks near Mosul

Mosul, March 4: At least fifteen Islamic State militants and two Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers were killed on Friday in attacks launched by the IS in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The security official of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghayath Al-Surji, said that IS launched major attacks against Kurdish forces in the areas northwest of Mosul, Efe news agency reported. The clashes lasted more than four hours, which led to the intervention of the intertiol coalition with air strikes against the attackers. Also, Al-Surji said more than twelve jihadis and six Peshmerga were injured in the fighting. Kurdish troops maged to destroy two car bombs driven by the IS fighters who tried to attack Kurdish defence lines. (IANS)
