15-year-Congress rule could not produce desired results: Cachar BJP

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, March 30: Reacting to the statement made by Congress that if Sarabanda Sonowal becomes the Chief Minister of the state, the condition of the Hindu Bengalis will be worse, Pradip Dutta Roy, chairman of the media cell of BJP Cachar district, said, “No harm will be done to the Hindu Bengalis of the state. The state will provide them social security and citizenship.”

Speaking to reporters here, he further said Sonowal will not take any decision that goes against the declared ideology and policy of the party.

Speaking on the anti-BJP stand of Congress in the election campaign, he pointed out, “Congress is playing dirty politics. They are full of lies and are busy leveling allegations against the party. All their campaign seems to be anti-BJP centric.”

He also stated that no vital development has taken place during Congress rule. Ten years of Dr Manmohan Singh’s regime and 15 years of Tarun Gogoi’s rule could not produce the desired results, Pradip Dutta Roy said.

Santosh Mohan Dev, former Union Minister, no doubt had initiated projects like Cachar Paper Mill, cement factory at Khatigorah, Barak Dam among others, but nothing fruitful has come out, Dutta Roy pointed out. He added that Congress claims that Goldighi mall is the result of their initiative, but only the richer classes are able to go and spend money. Barak Valley is facing some intricate problems that need to be addressed.

He said, “Even the combined efforts of the Dev family could not develop the valley.” Focusing on the need of a change in the political scerio of the valley, he mentioned in particular that people want a silent revolution that will shake the foundation of Congress government.
