15-year-old 'beaten' up by cops

Tura, Nov 27: A 15-year-old boy was allegedly beaten up by police personnel at Samanda village, near Williamgar in East Garo Hills district recently. Following the incident, the father of the victim filed an FIR at Williamgar police station against five police personnel for their alleged highhandedness.  
The victim’s father mentioned in the In the FIR that five unidentified police personnel (three men and two women) in civil dress barged into their house and severely physically assaulted his son without any reason on November 20. The boy had returned home after appearing for his examition on that unfortute day. However, owing to injuries, he could not report for his examition the following day, the FIR alleged.
“Police are meant to protect us and not beat up innocent people, especially children,” the victim’s father said.
East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (in-charge) Ringrang TG Momin said the matter was under investigation. “I received the complaint today. Action will be taken after an inquiry of the incident is done,” said Momin.
