15 years of loot, yells BJP

Shillong, Feb 8: The BJP on Thursday released a 38-page booklet to politically issue a charge sheet against the Congress-led government in Meghalaya under the head “Charge Sheet against the Congress – 15 Years of Loot, 15 Years of Destruction”.

The BJP’s charge sheet released by the party’s election in-charge of Meghalya KJ Alphonse at the party office in Shillong enumerated the 17 points of allegations against the Congress government in 17 major sectors, besides the seven other equivalent failures in allied fields.

Stating that the Congress regime has looted and created a mess in the State, the BJP-compiled booklet listed agriculture as its numero uno. Pointing at the dwindling number of cultivators that has declined from 48.1 per cent in 2001 to 41.7 per cent in 2011, besides the other difficulties of the farming community, the BJP maintained that there had been no serious effort to look into the matter.

The BJP charge sheet also referred to the pending resolution to the inter-State and intertiol boundary disputes, which it described a result of the politics of dilemma.

 “While the politicians have enriched themselves, the common man has been reduced to complete poverty,” the booklet says, questioning why Lok Ayukta had not been constituted after the passage of the Bill in that regard  in 2014.

The charge sheet also listed the Congress government’s ibility to undertake at least the remedial measures related to anomalies in public schemes. Seven points were outlined.

The charge-sheeting booklet also pointed to the State government’s failure to deliver on 30 of its promises made in the last polls.
