1500 kgs ganja seized

Silchar, May 12: 1500 kgs of ganja in total 142 packets have been seized from a truck bearing No. AS 01–4C–6936 at Jujang Hills, (NH 37), under Lakhipur Police Station at 1.30pm on Thursday. The truck, driven by L Kanta Singha (42), was coming from Imphal and heading for Guwahati. Acting upon a tip from specific sources, SDPO Gaurav Kumar Agarwal along with Lakhipur police persol and district custom officers stopped the truck and made a thorough search operation.

 The market value of the seized packets will be around Rs.75 lakhs. The packets have been handed over to the customs department. L Kanta Singha, son of Angau Singha is a resident of East Imphal district. Gaurav Kumar Agarwal interrogated the culprit. The driver and the truck along with the seized ganja have been handed over to the customs department last evening. The department is interrogating the driver to find out the roots and is hopeful to extract more vital information.
